I tried something different with my eyeshadow today. I actually like the result except my bushy eyebrows (which are shaped now, lol) were distracting from the look. It was a nice sunny day here, so I went jogging and did this when I came back home :)

Here's a quick three coat swatch of OPI Banana Bandanna on my nails. I actually like this colour but I still don't think yellow is the best option for me. The problem is that even though my skin is a darker medium (NW30), I have pink undertones which in my darker skin looks more red. So yellow always looks weird on me, as in it makes my hand look extra red. Especially dark and warm yellows (like OPI's "It" colour), look horrible. This one is more of a cooler custard type yellow so it's a bit better but not the ideal! It sucks coz I really like the colour yellow :( I haven't even been able to find a yellow top that looks good one me.

The application was ok. I felt that I needed three coats to make it opaque though. I've heard from various nail blogs that yellow nail polishes tend to be streaky so I was not surprised.

Anyway, here it is. Excuse the messy application. I was in a hurry and wanted to get a picture before it got dark.

I love MAC's duochromes eyeshadows and pigments. They have this amazing two colour quality so they come alive when paired over a dark base such as black gel liner.

Stars 'n Rockets was my first duochrome eyeshadow from MAC and since then I've been hooked. I constantly look for colours with this quality. To me, when you buy a duochrome eyeshadow or pigment, it's like you bought three colours in one as depending on the base, you can get various affects from it. For example, Blue Brown pigment on it's own it brown with blue flecks. When paired over a black (Blacktrack) or deep blue/teal base (Delft) it becomes this glowy blue with some brown flecks. When put on top of a purple base (NYX purple) it becomes this purpley blue colour with red flecks. Amazing, eh?

I have swatched all of the duochromes in my current collection. I would love to get more so if anyone know of more colours like these, please let me know :)

Here's a picture of everything together on top of Stila's Black Smudge Pot. As always, all my swatches are taken in sunlight on NW30 skin.

I did some hauling at a dusty in West Vancouver when I was vacationing there and finally found the holo version of My Priate Jet! I've been looking for this for ages here in Ottawa and hadn't found it so it was a nice surprise. I also picked up Dutch Tulip and Bronzed to perfection.

Then yesterday on my way back from my friends' place I stopped at Trade Secret to checkout the new OPI collections, Colorcopia and Sunbelievable. I ended up getting Venus Di Violet and Banana Bandanna. I hope Banana Bandana will be the yellow I can actually wear.

I was bored waiting for the hubby who's working late to come home so I took my day makeup off and tried a gold look. This is loosely based on xxsgtigressxx look that I watched on YT a couple of months ago. I just did mine a little less dramatic. Here it is:

We're on day 5 of constant cloudy and rainy skies in Ottawa. So I was inspired by all the grayness and did a soft gray smokey eye. I love to wear my Lavender Whip lipstick with grays. I think this is better than wearing it with purple eyes, kinda more unexpected yet so good! lol!

I'm invited to a game night at a friend's place tonight. I'm also taking a newly addict friend to MAC on Sunday. But overall I want to keep the weekend low key; get my annoying eyebrows done, maybe if the sun comes out do some swatches and reviews.

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Naked Honey full collection info and pictures are up on Specktra right now. This is a collection I had hoped I could skip completely. After reading some reviews I'm getting a little tempted. I'm really getting into warm and neutral colours for the summer so this is a hard temptation to fight. I started to tan gradually and I'm hoping to have the perfect golden glow by mid June.

There are a lot of skin products been released with Naked Honey as well. To be honest I'm not big on MAC's skin products coz I don't like to buy LE stuff for my body so those are easy to skinp. However I'm lemming:

Pollinator e/s - Mid-tone warm reddened peach with pearl
Buckwheat e/s - Dark copper brown with multi-dimensional pearl
Honey Light or Golden Nectra highlight powder - whichever one suits me best
Queen Bee l/g - Just coz I love peachy golden lips :)

What are your thoughts on Naked Honey?

Ok, Here's my funny story of the day:

I woke up a little late today and did my makeup wearing my towel and then just threw some clothes on, including a button down shirt I hadn't worn since last fall. What I didn't realize in my hurry was that the shirt was a little too small now and the top two buttons were a little loose. So I get to the office, pick up some stuff I needed for my site review this morning and quickly drove to the site (which was in the Civic Hospital). So imagine me with my big pink bag around my shoulders, a video camera, a set of drawings and hard hat running up the stairs and the top two buttons coming undone without me noticing :/

I get to the appointment location finally to meet up with the hospital project manager and his team where they were going to be trained on some new equipment. I was supposed to videotape and coordinate the session. This was a tiny room btw and I was standing directly in front of the manager and trying to set up my camera when I notice that he's staring right at my boobs! He was so obvious about it that I noticed right away! I tried not too flush and discretely fix the situation but the spot we were all at was so tight it was hard to turn around and button everything up. Anyhuw, he left shortly after and I doubt anyone else had noticed my situation but I could not focus at all after that! What makes it worse is that I'm like the only woman on my field, it took for ever to gain respect of all the guys and now this!!! And our company has ongoing contract with the hospital so I deal with the same manager every freakin week!!!

Anyway, enough of that, moving on to the look. I hope you had a good laugh!

I don't wanna sound like a whiner, but I'm still feeling very blue! It's been raining all day and that usually doesn't help. This look does not show true to colour at all! The lid is supposed to be a lavender colour and the blue brown looks red :/

Ok, strange title, I know! I was trying out some warmer colour combinations. I don't even know why, it's actually a cool day here in Ottawa. I was going for three colours on the lid but wasn't too happy with this outcome so added some Bronze in there as well.

This is two coats of OPI's Bronzed to Perfection from the South Beach Collection. I was inspired by the bronze colour that was in MAC's Style Warrior. This is not really the same colour but I love it on me especially since I got a tan :)

Bronze

This was actually a funny story. We went straight to Victoria when we got to BC and stayed there for 5 days. We returned to Vancouver via ferry on Wedsnday and took a bus from the ferry. We were planing on switching the bus once we got downtone to go to West Vancouver where our friends lived. Guess what? The ferry bus dropped us right in front of MAC Pro store! I told the hubby to watch the suitcases while I ran in and hauled. It was a funny scene actually. Poor hubby on the side walk with all the luggage while I shopped. It was his fault though, I was sleeping in the bus, he woke me up and pointed to the store.

Anyway, here's a picture of all that I got plus my Style Warrior haul.

PRO

From the Pro line I got:
- Cantaloup blush - gorgeous peachy matte blush, I wore this today and definitely think this is HG material
- Salsarose blush -bold matte coraly pink blush, I need to wear this with 187
- Sculpt Sculpting powder - another quick HG, finally an ideal matte colour to contour with
- Pure White Chromoline - self explantory, I plan to use this as a base for bright colours
- Platinum p/m - I'm running low on my sample, this is the most gorgeous metallic colour
- Bio Green e/s - another quick fave
- Lime e/s - lime colour eyeshadow, duh!
- Red Pepper l/s - this was very flattering on and I don't have any brown toned red lipsticks
- E/l mixing medium - will definitely get a lot of use

I also got two pigment samples in Green Brown and Gold (Metal).

From Style Warrior which I was underwhelmed with I got:
- Bright Future e/s - bright sunny yellow
- Gold Rebel l/g - peachy gold
- Liberated l/g - sheer yellow gold, I bought this for my little sister

I had a blast in B.C. We were walking pretty much from early morning to late night to see all the places we wanted to see and do all the things we wanted to do. I actually hardly wore any makeup when I was there. Mostly just liner and lipstick. The sun was out every day though and I got a lil bit of burn plus some tan :)

I feel like not wearing makeup for about 10 days has made me rusty a little bit. The blending is a little off in this look but I shall come back around, lol.

Hey guys,

Just a quick note to say I'm leaving for Victoria/Vancouver tomorrow morning and will be back here in Ottawa on May 24th. Will update as soon as I get back :)

Cheers....see you soon!!

11:49 AM

I have been reading on ppl's favourite items from MAC Pro as I'm planing on hitting one while I'm in Vancouver. I have only been to a Pro store once (in Toronto) where I picked up some pigments and barely paid attention to anything else. This time I spent time browsing the MAC pro website and want so many things! Lol, too many lemmings and not enough money. This is the list of what I want, we'll see how much of it I can actually get:

White Chromaline - definite as I want a white base
Salsarose blush pan - definite bold blush
Cantaloupe blush pan - I need a peachy matter blush
Sculpting powder - definite, need something other than my Hard Candy bronzer for sculting
Shaping powder - maybe
Biogreen e/s - definitely, I love the swatches for this
Lime e/s - maybe
Clear Sky Blue e/s - maybe
Cobalt e/s - maybe
Platinum p/m - I really want this, I'm out of my sample size one
Gold p/m - hopefully I can get a sample of this
Lightly Lilac loose bp - maybe
Daisy Dust loose bp - maybe

Will post my haul when I get back :)

The Style Warrior Collection seems to be the most exciting collection MAC has had for a while. It's still no Cool Heat or Lure but better than any collection I've seen so far in 2009. I'm still not sure when this collection will be released. My store here in Ottawa says on the 21st. Some ppl on Specktra say that their locations have the collection on the 18th or even the 12th. I'm so confused and annoyed. I like to pick up my goodies on the day the collection is released. Either way, I will be in B.C. when this comes out. I will probably go to the PRO store to get some items from them and at the same time check out Style Warrior.

Liberated l/g - same as above

I'm loving my Plumage eyeshadow. How did I ever live without it? It's so versatile and goes with everything. I should do a teal smokey eye with it soon. I'm at work though so I had to be more subtle today.

On another note, there probably wouldn't be any updates to my blog until I get back from B.C. (May23rd). I won't take my labtop with me so it will be hard to do updates. I will catch up when I come back though!

My MUFE collection is slowly growing. I started off by buying the ever so famous #92 which is IMO the best purple out there. Ever since then I've been wanting to pick up some more so everytime I went to Sephora, I swatched a bunch but never got to pick up any until yesterday. I found out yesterday that MUFE is cheaper at the Sears counter so I went there and treated myself to some new eyeshadows and a palette.

The Sears counter sold the palettes with three or ten slots. I got the one with ten slots. These palettes come with a magnet and are longer and thinner than the MAC 15-e/s palettes. The MUFE e/s can easily be popped out of their flat container and placed into the palette, no depotting necessary. The eyeshadows are larger than MAC eyeshadows and as quite many of them are very pigmented, they can also be used as a blush. I really like these babies. I've started to like matte eyeshadows more and more and I'm glad that MUFE makes a lot of matte but bright colours. I can see myself going back for more. I have to at least complete my palette, right?

Here's a picture of my current collection:
MUFE1
