Hey lovelies! Like most women out there, I really enjoy shopping! I don't usually venture to the mall on the busiest day for shopping, Boxing Day. This year though, I wanted to check out MAC Cham Pale collection out on Dec 26 so even though I was sick, I still made it to the mall. Hubby generously dropped me off and then picked me up so I wouldn't deal with the driving and finding parking.

While I was in the mall, I picked up some other things as well. Here's the lot:

makeup
I got Chez Chez Lame special powder from Cham Pale. This is a gorgeous highlighter (well at least on me). I have a feeling it will get a tone of use from me. I also got Dark Diversion f/l from Stylishly Yours collex. It's a nice dark burgundy shade. I love this types of colours on my eyes so I grabbed it. I also got two samples of F&B foundation in N2 and N3. N3 ended up being too dark on me now but N2 is a good match. I will report in more details later. After that I swung by Nars to get a new bottle of Sheer Glow foundation. This time around I picked up shade Santa Fe. Weirdly enough, Santa Fe is lighter than Fiji but also less yellow so it matches me much better at the moment.

n/p
From Winners, I picked up the last set of Color Club Untamed Luxury for only $12CAD! Score! I love Color Club but their stuff is so hard to find in Canada. I also got 3 nail polishes from American Apparel: Calfornia Trooper, Butter and Dynasty.

skirt
I picked up a cranberry coloured interlocked pencil skirt from American Apparel (they had 20% off sale) while I was there. I practically live in pencil skirts. I think I have maybe 3 skirts that are not pencil style, lol! This one is very comfortable and I love the colour!

cm
I went into Club Monaco which was having 50% on all sales items and got a pair of pinstriped charcoal dress pants and a cashmere blend beige v-neck sweater. These are just some basic items that were on my list for a while.

boots
Last but not least, I picked up these camel coloured over the knee boots from Aldo. I haven't shopped at Aldo in years but I was looking for similar boots and they were the only place that had them. They're 100% leather but pinch like no tomorrow! Do you guys know how I can solve this? They're not small just a bit hard I guess. I might have to return then if I cant make them work :(

Did you get to the mall on Boxing Day? Share your hauls and thoughts in comments.

Hey lovelies! One of the dearest friends in my entire life is getting married to a super lucky man in February 2011 in Tennessee where she currently lives. Since my friend is Pakistani and they have many wedding functions, the first event was last night. I had never been to South Asian wedding functions so I was pretty excited. I actually have a sari that was gifted to me a while back but never had the opportunity to wear until last night. It's a gorgeous royal blue shade with gold embroideries. I felt so beautiful wearing it (and I also felt like I fit in, hehehe!)

To compliment my sari, I went for similar hues on my eyes. Oh, and I wore Chez Chez Lame powder for the first time too. It gives a gorgeous golden glow to my skin and totally warms up my complexion. I love it!

Happy Boxing Day to those of you who celebrate by going to the mall. I usually avoid them as I hate big crowds and I really have too much stuff as is. I will be going in shortly to pick up some Cham Pale goodies though.

I wanted to share my Christmas Day look with you guys though. I went with traditional colour of Christmas and thought the result was very occasion appropriate. As I mentioned previously, hubby and I host a traditional Guyanese Christmas (hubby is from Guyana) brunch every year and have family and some friends over. It's quite bit of food for a brunch so ppl usually stay around till much later. Here's some pics of the look I wore and one bonus family pic!

December 25, 2010

Merry Christmas everyone! The last of our brunch guests just left and we're now officially starting the holiday chilling out process! I thought I get one blog post out before all that happens. We were at my parents last night as we are every year. They had about 20 guests and it was a fun night with lotsa food.

I went for a glittery dark blue look and thought I call it "Silent Night Look". Very original, I know! I loved how it turned out but I looked weird in all of them so this is the best I have, sorry! I will be posting my xmas day look tomorrow hopefully.

OMG only two days left to Christmas! I still have one more gift to buy and work out the final details of our annual Christmas brunch. We usually spend Christmas Eve at my parents but on Christmas Day we have family and some of the friends who's parents aren't in town over for a traditional Guyanese breakfast.

This is the look I wore yesterday which was my last day of work for 2010. I went for a blue green look to match the skirt i was wearing. I also had my performance appraisal yesterday and it went great! I got praised by the boss and also got a nice raise.

Hope you guys like this look :)

Hey lovelies! I've started to feel a bit better as the shock of my friend's sudden passing is settling in. The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow so hopefully i can be over the sadness by xmas eve. I did this golden bronze look with some pink mixed in yesterday for my company's holiday lunch. We always have a formal dinner as well as an informal catered lunch the week after when we do secret santa gift exchange.

Hope you guys like this look! Oh, I'm running outta my second tube of Snob! Snob has got to be my all time fave lipstick. I never seem to get enough.

Hey lovelies! I had a very rough day and night on Monday and still getting over it. Unfortunately, a family friend (one of my bff's younger sister) passed away suddenly on Sunday :'( I spent most of Sunday night thinking about her and couldn't get any sleep. I ended up spending Monday in a state of shock and disbelief. I'm still trying to absorb the fact and meanwhile distracting myself by blogging.

This is one of my signature looks so you probably have seen it before. It turned out pretty nice so I thought I post it anyway. Hope you guys like it.

I cannot believe that another year has gone us by so quickly! I feel like it was yesterday that I did the top 5 products of 2009. Only 4 days to Christmas and luckily I finally finished my shopping and now can relax and wait for the holidays. Before I get too relaxed though, here are my top 5 products of 2010. This is always a hard decision for me as I always find so many great beauty products. I must say the selected 5 get a lot of used from yours truly and I wouldn't mind having back-ups of them.

best

1. Urban Decay's Naked palette - this is a much talked about palette so I will keep it short and sweet. UD hit the nail on the head with this amazing array of neutrals that can go from day to night in a sleek packaging. I have not been able to stop using this since I got my paws on it. A++!

2. MAC Bite of An Apple Blush (LE) - why must MAC make some of their greatest products LE? That's something I never understood. I love this coraly red blush as it gives my cheeks a just bitten pinky red tint. It's a natural look if I use a light hand despite the bold shade in the pan. Love this blush with classy red lips.

3. Sugarpill Goldilux Chromalust - Sugarpill was one of the indie brands of 2010 that I could not get enough of. This particular shimmering and highly pigmented shade, Goldilux, is the best gold pigment I've ever laid my eyes on. See my swatches and review here.

4. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (shown in shade Fiji) - My conquest for finding the perfect everyday foundation came to an end when my fave Nars SA talked me into trying Sheer Glow back in February. It gives me great coverage, satiny skin and is easily blendable. See my full review of Nars Sheer Glow here.

5. Chanel Paradoxal Nail Polish - This perfect blend of plum and gray shade was (and is) my go-to mani choice since its release back in August. It's a sophisticated and unique shade that always earns me compliments. See my swatch of Paradoxal here.

Do you have any of these products? How do you like them? What were some of your fave products of 2010?

Saturday night hubby and I attended my company's xmas party. I went for soft gray smokey eyes and deep red lips a la So Scarlet (MAC - LE, Cult of Cherry). I was wearing a red and black dress so it was one of those matchy matchy nights! The party itself was great. We had entertainment during dinner and a DJ after that so we were on the dance floor till late. We also hit a couple of bar after the company party and overall had an amazing night!

This is one of the simpler holiday inspired looks I've done but it's still stands out coz of the glitters. If you are in Canada, definitely get yourself some of Lise Watier's Eyeglitters as they are truly awesome! I've been collecting them since last year and they are the best glitter liners on the market. If you're not in Canada, make sure you still get a CP for them, you will not be sorry!

I rarely do non-makeup haul posts on the blog and have even reduced the frequency of makeup hauls. But I was excited with some of the items I got these last two weeks so I thought I share with you guys.

1. Joneve: I scored two pairs of Roberto Vianni shoes from Joneve. This brands shoes are generally in the $200's range but they were having a mega sale so I got both pairs for $100 taxes in! I love me a good sale!

shoes1
This pair I'm planing on wearing to my company christmas party tomorrow. They also had it in red but I have enough red shoes I thought I get it in black. I have a weakness for lace so I was giddy with excitement when I saw this.

shoes2
I got this pair coz I just wanted a pair of basic black pumps that didn't look boring and these fit the bill.

2. Bedo: I got a new winter coat from Bedo when I was in Montreal two weeks ago. Living in Canada, you gotta have a variety of warm coats. I tend to splurge on a new one every year. This number is very warm and I love the collar, you can button it all the way up. I like to wear this with a black cable circle scarf (which I'm not doing in the pic).

This look is from Tuesday when we had a snow storm and temperature fell down to -23 deg. It was not a pleasant day and the drive to work was awful! This is Canada for God's sake yet every year come the first snow storm ppl seem like they forgot how to drive!

Anyway, I thought I do a bright tropical look to contrast with all the white stuff outside. Hope you guys like it and happy Friday!

Happy Thursday beauties and welcome to another edition of the Tried and True Series! Today we have one of my oldest faves in the MAC perm line, Pink Nouveau lipstick.

I love lipsticks, you all know that! I like red lips, dark vampy lips, neon lips and nude lips. But my first love will always be the greatest blue toned pink lipstick of all, Pink Nouveau. Pink Nouveau is one of those hidden gems in MAC permanent lines that I don't see recognized quite as much as it should be. It's a satin finish which is one of my fave finishes as it's opaque yet not as drying as MAC's matte lipsticks. Pink Nouveau actually is one of the better satins and feel quite creamy on the lips. The shade itself is barbie pink perfection! I often skip a lip liner when I wear this as the colour is so gorgeous I don't want liners to take away from it.

Pink Nouveau works great on my NW25 skintone, it brightens up my complexion without looking either too subtle or too neon. I can also imagine it working on a variety of skintones. I get 5-6 hours of wear with this easily! If MAC ever discontinues this, I'll run and get 3 more :D Seriously, I've had this baby for years and now have a few near dupes but none as great as the original!

Some pics for you guys:

Do you guys have Pink Nouveau? What is your favourite Barbie pink lipstick?

December 16, 2010

I wasn't actually planing on wearing much makeup on this day but somehow my mood changed in the morning and I decided to sport barbie pink lips. One of my fave barbie pink shades is MAC's Pink Nouveau. This lipstick is also today's Tried and True so see next post for more thoughts on that. This look was simple and quick to do and actually earned me many compliments so I'm happy.

Hope you guys like it too. Oh, I just noticed these light purples on my eyes really bring them out, me likey :D They look more golden!

As usual I'm a couple of days behind with my FOTD's so this is actually Monday's look. Winter is on full affect right now and I'm getting lazier and lazier to get out of bed in the mornings. When I sleep in, I tend to go for no brainer looks. For me that doesn't necessarily mean I go for neutrals. But it translates to doing my eyes with Nars e/s duos. See, the colour combinations are beautiful and I don't have to think as much.

For this look for example, I used one of my fave Nars duo's, Habanera and added some more complimentary colours and finished with strawberry toned lips. Hope you guys like this and oh, if you're getting as much snow as us here, drive slow!

December 14, 2010

I wasn't sure if I wanted a no-makeup look or full on makeup for a trip to the mall (I was hunting for new shoes). Since I couldn't decide, I thought I experiment and do half face more dramatic makeup and the other half more neutral. Of course I took this face off before I went out, lol! I did score some great shoes too. I'm gonna make a post on those later. Here's my half naughty/half nice face, lol!

haha

For the "Naughty" half, I did matte foundation and simple black and white cut crease; but I also went for a double liner, plum cheeks and dark two toned lips:

Blacktrack f/l - to line
Feline e/k - waterline
Lancome Hypnose mascara

Lips

naughty

For the "Nice" half, I went with light foundation, neutral eye makeup, flesh pinky lips and glowy cheeks. Here's the breakdown:

Face
MUFE F&B - #32
Prim n Proper blush
BB Apricot Shimmerbrick

Eyes
Painterly p/p - base
UD Virgin e/s - all over lid

UD Darkhorse e/s - to blend liner
MUFE Gold e/l - waterline
Chanel Rouge Noir inimitable mascara

Lips

I liked the "nice" half better for my trip to the mall and that's how I did the face finally.
Which half do you guys prefer?
