Hey beauties and happy Monday! I cannot believe another month just cruised past us. I've been so overworked this month I barely notice the days going by.

I did this look over the weekend for a quick shopping trip (I needed sessentials as in new bras, lol!). I ended up finding a good sale at La Vie en Rose and scored three sets of lacy bras/panties for $57 taxes in, woohoo! I love it when I find a good lingerie sale. Anyway, I did a smokey navy look for the mall as I was starved for makeup wearing. As I mentioned in the last post, I barely wore any makeup when I was in QC and badly wanted to sport something bold.

Hope you guys like this look :)

Since we're almost at the end of the month, thought I show you this month's favourite beauty products on time for once:

feb faves

1. Lancome Teint Miracle foundation - water based foundations are big this year. Despite what you might think, I find they actually cover better than less water products. Lancome Teint Miracle is a winner in my book with its medium coverage, longetivity and great shade matching. See my full review here.

2. Chanel Coramondel Rouge Allure Laque - I was craving orange reds big time this month and one of my most used lip products was Coramondel. Rouge Allure Laques are very opaque, last a long time and in my opionion the best lipstick formula in the market.

3. MAC Gold Mode pigment - this pigment was a CCO find and one of the best yet. Gold Mode is a peachy gold with great texture, it's definitely not one of those chunky pigments. I've been using this pigment non stop since I got it.

4. MAC Spectacle of Yourself eyeshadow - this burgundy brown eyeshadow was an LE shade released last month. It wears smoothly and effortlessly. Spectacle of Yourself is the miracle shade for making amber/hazel shade eyes like yours truly pop.

5. Urban Decay Stash 24/7 eyeliner - I've had this shimmery olive green liner for over two years now but somehow been using the heck out of this this past month. Stash is great on the lower lashline with the gold/neutral eye looks I've been sporting.

Do you own any of these products? What are your top 5 products for the month of February?

Hey lovelies! I'm back from the one week long busines trip to Quebec City. While I was there, it was 95% work and only 5% play. I didn't realloy wear much makeup and so it feels so good to be back home.

I changed my nail colur last night from my usual vampy shades to American Apparel Butter, a pastel yellow. This is a beautiful shade of yellow but allas with my cooler undertones, it just totally clashes :( It makes my hands my redder than they actually are just coz of the contrast with my undertones. I also had a bit of application issues and found this polish really bubbles. This is the first time I've had bubbling issues with AA polishes so I'm not going to write them all off just yet.

Here's a swatch of Butter on my nails. I used two coats. Again, lovely shade, not the best on my skintone (NW25):

I also picked up a bottle of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation today. I've used a couples of samples of this and loved it enough to go back for a full bottle. I'm such a foundation addict! Full review of Vitalumiere Aqua will be posted within the next couple of weeks :)

Hey lovelies! I'm having some pretty busy days work-wise lately. I'm actually currently in Quebec City (on business doing energy audits) so most of this week's posts are scheduled since Tuesday, lol!

This look is from Tuesday when I wanted to do metalic eyes but couldn't decide whether I wanted gold or silver. So I settled to do both. I love the look of antique golds like MAC Woodwinked with pewter shades like Bobbi Brown Pewter. To make it more colourful, I added some metalic burgundy brown into the mix. Hope you guys enjoy this look.

Hey lovelies! I went for dinner and movies with my bff of Sunday and felt like this was an evening for my beloved Chanel Coromandel Rouge Allure Laque to make an appearance again. I've taken quite bit of liking to my orange reds lately. I still think blue reds are my best reds but orange reds just stand out more which I just prefer sometimes.

Here's the look I ended up with, I kept the eyes nice and neutral.

February 21, 2011

I know it's only February, but it's already a lot warmer and some of snow has melted here in the Capital. Since coral and pinks are my favourite spring shades, I thought I show you guys some of my favourite lipsticks in these two colour families.

I will start today with my top 5 coral lipsticks. It was a hard task as I love all my coral lipsticks:

1. Nars Niagara - This light pink coral shade is one of my favourite lipsticks (and I own plenty of lippies). It's one of Nars sheer lipsticks but it has great coverage on my pigmented red lips and the colour shows true to tube. This is one of the prettiest shades of pinky coral I've ever seen. Very low maintenance, you can wear it without a lip liner.

2. Marcelle Rouge Xpression in Paris Rose - This is a light no-fuss coral lipstick but again packs a punch. It's very comfortable wearing and gorgeous on both cool and warm skintones. You can apply one layer for a sheer look or layer more if you prefer a more opaque finish.

3. Chanel Teheran Rouge Coco - the Chanel lipstick bearing my hometown name is more of a shimmery coral, very much on the pink side though. The shimmer is not too obvious to make it frosty, just very girlie and pretty. Teheran wears opaquely for 4-5 hours and is specially flattering on cooler skintones. I always get a tone of compliments when I wear this shade.

4. MAC Vegas Volt - this bright coral shade (and the warmest in my collection) is a summer staple and is one of MAC's hidden perm line gems. Vegas Volt is a brighter shade of coral so this is not for the faint of heart. If you're on the cooler side of the spectrum like yours truly, try pairing it with pink lip liner/lipstick. I personally like to wear Vegas Volt with Big Bow lipstick or Trimmed in Pink lip liner. For warmer toned ladies, wear it bold and proud :)

5. Chanel Genial Rouge Allure - this limited edition shade from last summer is my personal fave when it comes to neon corals. It's bright and in your face but totally gorgeous! I wore the hell outta this lipstick last summer and cannot wait for warmer months to break it out again. Rouge Allures are very long wearing and you can an achieve opaque finish in one swipe.

Some swatches for you guys. All with no base on my inner arm (which is about NW20):

Hey beauties! It's been a while since I used my Rose pigment. I'm trying to go back to some of my old faves and Rose is def one of them. Now this pigment is very frosty so you want to use it with mixing medium and also tap it on, no sweeping or you get a tone of fall out. I use Rose on my cheeks in the summer as well but the affect is too much on my winter complexion. Either way, a very multi-purpose product and love how it glows <3>

Hey beauties! I test drove my brand new Bobbi Brown Pewter yesterday and I love love love it! It's got such a smooth texture and just glides on. I also love the shade, I describe it as a warm silver (if that makes sense to you). I wish I had got the other two shades now too, lol! Maybe next time I see them at a CCO I will grab them.

Hey beauties! While in Indy, I made sure to hit one of the premium outlets (Edinburgh). Since we don't have outlets here in Canada, I always get excited about the shopping when I'm down South. I dropped by the CCO in there too and I would say the Edinburgh CCO was the best I've ever seen. They had at least 30 different pigments and many blushes, MSF's, eyeshadows and even foundations. The only thing was that they only had dark foundations :( the lightest shade they had left of F&B was N5 and NC35 in sff. I would loved to stock up on my N2 shade.

Anyway, I still bought some nice stuff. Here we go:

Pigments in Gold Mode and Circa Plum
p/m

I loooove Circa Plum and cannot believe I didn't pick it up the first time around. It's very similar to one of my all time fave purples shades, Illegal Cargo (LE - Naughty Nautical). As you see in the swatch, Illegal Cargo has cooler tones and is also not as pigmented:

p/m2
Circa Plum on the left and Illegal Cargo on right

Gold Mode is an amazing light peachy gold shade. I bought these only 4 days ago and already used Gold Mode 3 times, lol! I don't have any exact dupe for it but Blonde's Gold is the closest with less peach tones to it:

p/m3
Left to right: Amber Lights, Goldmine, UD Baked, Gold Mode, Blonde's Gold

I also picked up Instant Chic blush and Aquavert eyeshadow (both LE):

blush

Instant Chic is a beautiful matte light coral pink blush. I love this types of shades on and once again not sure why I skipped this blush a few months ago. My closed dupe to in is Nars Deep Throat though DT is warmer, more shimmery and less pigmented:

blush2
Left to right: Nars Deep Throat, Instant Chic, Nars Gilda, Cantaloupe (Pro)

Aquavert has been released a few times and I always convinced myself that I didn't need it but I was wrong. It is similar to Warm Chill (LE - Cool Heat) but Aquavert has a greener base and is MUCH easier to apply:

aqua
Aquavert on left, Warm Chill on right

And finally, I grabbed Bobbi Brown metalic eyeshadow in Pewter. I don't own any pewter shades really and recall loving this shade when it was launched last xmas but not getting it coz I didn't want to spend $30CAD on one shade. I paid much less for it at the CCO of course:

Do you guys own any of the products listed? What are some of your faves looks you've done with either one of these products?

Hey lovelies! You might have heard me complain how smokey brown eyes never come out just the way I want them on me. I tried it once more for my bestie's wedding last weekend in Indianapolis and it was not so bad this time. I still don't think smokey brown is the best colour smokey on me though (I much prefer purple or burgundy with my amber shade eyes), but not too too bad, lol!

February 14, 2011

Hey lovelies and happy Valentine's Day if you celebrate it. I just got back from Indianapolis where I had traveled to for my best friend's wedding. It was a pretty quick trip for us and ran into lotsa unfortunate events on our way there (our flight getting canceled in Chicago, our luggage almost getting lost) and hardly got any sleep for the 3 nights there. But the wedding events and seeing my girl all happy and glowy made it all worth it for me :)

I wore a pale pink short dress to the Mehndi ceremony and did girlie pink makeup to match. I also did three of the other girls' makeup but was too rushed to remember to take pics :( Hope you guys like this look:

I had never before attending a mehndi before (an Indian henna ceremony, typically held the day before the actual wedding), so this was quite bit of fun for me. The bride's cousin even did a henna design on the palm of my hand which was quite intriguing for me. Here she is at work:

February 10, 2011

Hey beauties! I have a new fave foundation I've been using regularly for the past week. I love this foundation so much that I actually dare declare it my new everyday holly grail. I present you, Lancome Teint Miracle:

l

Formula - Teint Miracle has 40% water so it's a light weight foundation. It pretty much feels like nothing on as it's a sheer yet buildable formula. It looks incredibly natural on and the finish is gorgeous and satiny. I feel fresh and awake when I have this foundation on. I have combination skin and find that this lasts on me 8-10 hours (without the use of translucent powder). It's not a full coverage foundation though so you will need to use concealer on blemishes/scars. I find this foundation also photographs well due to low SPF content (only 15).

Application - I have tried applying my Teint Miracle with fingers, flat foundation brush, sponge and a stippling brush and I find that all methods worked great for me. I personally prefer the quick and air brushed application of a stippling brush though. When I'm applying this foundation, I feel like I'm putting on a tinted moisturizer, it just feels amazing one! I only use a pump and it's enough for my full face. It's literally impossible to overdo with this product.

Colour Match - Lancome divides their shades into categories of Ivory (fair), Buff (light), Bisque (medium) and Suede (dark). Every category has their shades organized from lightest to darkest and also includes N (neutral) W (warm) and C (cool) undertones. I was matched to Buff 4C which is a dead on match for my neutral/cool skintone (NW25, N2 in MAC). I usally wear more neutral shades but for some reason in this foundation the cool shade worked best.

Packaging and Price - I absolutely adore the glass packaging. I think it's very elegant and almost looks like a perfume bottle. The pump dispose the perfect amount of product needed for my full face. Teint Miracle retails for $44CAD in Canada so to me it's considered more of a mid-range foundation.

Hope this review was helpful to you guys. Have you tried Lancome's Teint Idole? What are your thoughts?

February 10, 2011

Hey lovelies! This is actually the look I wore on my birthday shopping trip in Montreal. I'm usually happier with blue based red lipsticks but sometimes I feel like being bolder and wear warmer reds. Chanel's Rouge Allure in Vertige is a gorgeous coral red. If you have cooler undertones like me, it will look bolder on you. For the warmer toned ladies, this shade will look softer and more natural. I paired the lips with daytime peach and rusty shades on the eyes. Hope you like this look:
