Hey lovelies! I hadn't worn colours on my eyes in a while and being in Mexico last week, my makeup was even more minimal. I went bare faced (of course not including sunblock) during the day and wore cream bronzer and a bright lipstick for the night.

However, I was inspired by the blue and teal of the water to do this more colourful look. It goes well with my newly acquired tan too :D Hope you guys enjoy it.

Hello beauties! Sorry for the 10-day absence from the blogsphere but I just got back from a week long vacation with hubby.

We decided to go on what people call a "babymoon". As in a nice relaxing vacation before bebe is born. We chose Mayan Riviera after some research and had a truly amazing time during our one-week stay there. We stayed at a 5-star resort and spent time relaxing by the pool/beach and also went on an excursion including climbing temples of Koba, swimming in a cenote and visiting a Mayan village.

Hubby and I had visited Dominican Republic and Cuba as part of our trips to the tropics before and we both agree that Mexico and especially Mayan Riviera is our favourite destination in the area.

Here are a few pictures from the trip:

day1
Hubby and I on our first day at the beach.

day2
Me and my 22 weeks preggo belly at the resort.

day2-2
from this angle the preggo belly is not visible. But you can see how my waistline is gone :(

day3
Dinner time, I love all the colours I saw in Mexico. Came back very inspired makeup-wise.

day4
One of the temples at Koba. I managed to climb it despite my preggo belly :D

last
Mariachi night at the hotel. This was our favourite performance.

I would say the only thing I didn't like, was that I got badly sunburnt despite being very diligent with my regular application of SPF 70, booooo! One the burn marks on my chest is still there now since day one and STILL hurts to touch :'(

Hope you guys had a great weekend. The following posts are upcoming this week:
- Blog sale update
- Tropical inspired makeup
- Road to Maternity - Update #2
- Latest favourites - makeup, hair and skin products

I bought MAC Runway Red the second time it was released and had my doubts about it. I just have sooooo many red lipsticks that it was weird getting yet another one. Though after I came home with it, I realized I don't have an exact dupe for this lipstick, so I'm still happy :)

I paired the classic red lips with soft shimmering eyes with double liner and contoured cheeks. Hope you like the look.

Hey beauties! I know spring is here and by now most ppl are now wearing their pastels and brights, I still want to wear dark lips a little longer. For me they're always in and always classic.

I used MAC Kirch mattene from Cult of Cherry collection. It's a darkened wine shade with brown tones that's surprisingly workable full on or just as a stain. I also did sparkly eyes with Chanel Illusoire Illusion d'Ombre. I like how easy this product is. I just patted it on with my fingers, added highlighter and I was set.

Hope you like this look. I liked my outfit today too but most of the time I'm too lazy for outfit pictures. Kudos to those of you who can do it every day :)

Hey beauties! I thought I organize my pregnancy posts into bi-weekly updates and try to mostly (lol) separate them from the beauty posts this way. I've seen various bloggers do pregnancy updates and I've come up with my own version.

First, here's the growing bump at 21 weeks (5 months and 1 week):

me

Baby Gender: girl

Total weight gained: 4lbs so far. But my body shape has changed completely! I barely have a waistline anymore and for the first time in my adult life, I feel like my belly's gonna catch up to my boobs!! I still fit into all my clothes (I wear size 8) though.

Baby movements: booo.... I can still not feel the baby move. I saw plenty of movement on my ultrasound but somehow I can't feel her yet. I've heard it's common for first time moms to not feel any movement till week 22.

Symptoms: I have mild backaches which are pretty annoying when I sit at my desk all day. My boss has limited the number of my site visits so I'm a prisoner of my cubicle :( I also need to use the restroom at least once during the night. On the positive side, I've been told I have a great mommy glow and my hair is growing faster and is even fuller than it was before.

Cravings: I finally started to have cravings! I'm liking Pepsi, black Peruvian olives and ice cream these days.

Mood: pretty good these days. I eat and sleep well and have started to plan ahead for the baby. Also we're leaving on vacation this Saturday which I'm really looking forward to.

Accomplished this week:
- the room which will be the nursery is mostly cleaned up now and ready for painting
- I registered for prenatal classes for July
- received all my HR paperwork for mat leave and now gotta sort through them
- signed up for a few online baby coupons and samples
- started serious research for my birth method. Currently reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth. I'm leaning towards a birth plan with the least amount of medical interventions.
- Bought a couple of cute outfits for baby girl
- My mom and sisters have set my shower date, excited!

To do for the next few weeks:
- Nursery to be fully cleaned and all the office supplied transferred to the basement room
- Pick nursery theme/colour and start painting
- Start the baby registry
- Start researching big items like crib, stroller/car seat, nursery furniture
- I have my midwife appt tomorrow and can get a lot of questions answered

On a random note and just because I don't seem to be able to skip beauty posts, I got my hair highlighted this past weekend. I needed a change real bad. I liked how it turned out and can't wait for my vacation and some tanning for the highlights to show even more!

Hey lovelies! This look is from last week, one of those days when inspiration was not coming but I was wearing my fave leopard print dress and wanted makeup to be polished yet dramatic. At times like this I go for my foolproof smokey brown eye look. It basically just uses 2 eyeshadows plus highlights. You just need some blending back and fourth between the two shades.

I've done this look with black and white too but it's more high maintenance and takes too much effort for office wear. When I do black and white, I also do paler lips (like Myth I used here sans the lip liner) to make it more dramatic. However, a softer nude was more suitable for the eyes here.

Hope you like this look :)

Hey lovelies! Just to let you know that I have to delay my blog sale by a couple of weeks as I've had to travel for work last minute and I don't have any of my items picture online. They're all saved on my Macbook at home :(

I will update more in the coming week :) Hope you all have a great Thursday!

And my still tiny bump at 20 weeks (5 months) pregnant. I'm definitely not one of those women who show early. I have a feeling it will catch up with me in the last trimester. I'm wearing a stripped tee and navy/black pencil skirt by Zara and red round toe pumps by Jessica Simpson in this picture. Excuse my very weird looking face, no idea what the heck I'm doing :/

Baby Gender Revelation:
Hubby and I went in for my 20weeks ultrasound today. Before I was pregnant, I had a hard time understanding this pregnancy measuring by weeks thing. But now that's how I talk myself, lol! So they scanned the baby, measured everything including heart beat. The baby was actually very active so she was giving the tech a hard time. Everything was fine though thankfully and she told us the gender as well: WE'RE HAVING A BABY GIRL!!!! Team pink all the way :D
Hubby and I are both very excited. He always had a feeling it would be a girl. I personally didn't have a feeling whatsoever but am very grateful. Grateful that the baby is healthy and kicking (though I still don't feel her kicks) and glad to have a mini me, hahaha! It will be fun now starting the nursery, picking names, buying lil girlie outfits.
I will update more on the coming weeks with pregnancy stuff in addition to the regular beauty stuff. In the meanwhile, hope you all have a great hump day!

Hey lovelies! I went from being terrified of the colour orange to wearing it almost everywhere: on my eyes, around my neck, on my lips (almost!). It's just such a happy colour. I still am too scared of a full on orange dress but making progress :)

I was inspired by the scarf I was wearing for this look, hope you like it.

Hey guys! I've finally decided to part with some of my makeup. At this point in my life I'm less interested in collecting and more into making space and keeping only what I use the most.

I will hopefully be doing a blog sale next Thursday (April 12) at 7:00 pm. None of these items will be brand new but they are all very gently used (1-3 times) and will be sanitized. I will have all the prices and shipping info in the actual post and will tweet about it the same day. There will be mostly full sized MAC pigments (in old jars) and limited edition eye and lip products.

For now though, here are some sneak preview pics:

Hey beauties! The weather is still cold here but I'm feeling happy spring shades these days. Like berry, peach and light yellow and gold. This time of the year is just the best. There's a nice cool breeze in the morning yet so totally comfortable to walk around in a trench. I just love spring!
I also wore my only Inglot lipstick which is a cool pink after a long time (forgot the number). It's one of the ones that come in a slim tube. I love how creamy and long lasting this lipstick is but it feels slightly waxy upon application. Anyone else tried these and had the same experience?

Hey ladies! I've discovered another lipstick formula to fall in love with, and this time the name totally fits: Lancome Rouge in Love!

lancome1

I saw the display for these at Sephora a few weeks ago and was drawn to the colours so tried on a bunch. After a few weeks of wearing the two shades I got, I would say that I have fallen in love with the formula. I would say that these are head to head now with my all time fave lipstick formula, Chanel Rouge Allure. What I like about them is that they are almost translucent. So they seem sheer but are pigmented and creamy and are VERY comfortable to wear. I get about 5-6 hours of wear out of them, but they wear off beautifully like a stain.

Lancome has divided their new shades into three categories: Jolis Matins (for daytime wear - lighter shades), Boudoir Time (cocktail hours - the most fun shades) and Tonight is My Night (evening wear - darker shades and reds). I picked up 146B Miss Coquelicot and 381B Violette Coquette.

Lancome2

*** All swatches on NW22 skintone, medium pigmented lips. No lipliner/base used***

Miss Coquelicot is a beautiful tangerine shade. If you have pink/red undertones (like mine) and never thought you could wear the orange trend, give this one a try. It's more orange than all my coral lipsticks but nothing too out there to be unwearable on cooler skintones:

Violette Coquette is a violette shade with fuchsia undertones. This has been my go-to lipstick for the last 2 weeks. I just put on some MAC Florida blush on my cheeks and swipe this on my lips and I'm good to go. It's just a beautiful shade on my skintone:

Lancome Rouge in Love retail for $30CAD and are available from Lancome Counters and Sephora in Canada.

Have you tried Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks? What is your current lipstick formula?

Hey ladies! Hope all your weekends have been greta so far. Mine was pretty relaxed but I managed to get a tone of errands done. Did some shopping and also cleaned up what will be the baby's room. I will not start buying anything baby related till we know the sex (in 2 weeks).

This is a look from last Friday. It's fairly simple involving shimmering mauve shades on the eyes and a blotted version of my fave vamp lipstick, Nars Damned. Hope you like it!

Baby Update!

Here's a little bump update at 18 weeks. My bump has grown quite a bit but it's still not noticeable if I don't wear tight dresses. I'm not too worried as I know soon I'll be huge, lol! I'm fairly tall and have stronger abdominal muscles so it will take longer for me to show. For now, I'm happy to fit in my normal clothes as long as I can:

Hope you guys start a great week!
