Once again, I got super bored with my hair! I decided not to dye it and give my strands a break as my hair has gotten a lil dry and prone to breaking. But I wanted a change none the less.
My gorgeous and talented mom who's a hair stylist and makeup artist gave me even more layers than before. I wanted to get side bangs again but decided to go for full bangs this time. I've had bangs most of my life but it's been a while so I'm still getting used to the new "me". I hardly use flat iron on my hair (maybe 3 times a year) so I'm also getting used to the straight hair as well, haha! I think I look a lil younger, which is good, coz in three weeks I'll be 28 :(
Here are some pics. What do you guys think? Thumbs up or down?

For my second edition of Sunday's Fave (which is my fave post from the blogs I read), I would like to link one of my favourite nail bloggers, Michelle of All Laquered Up. Her Lace Nail Tutorial of this past Thursday has really inspired me to try something new.
For those of you who have followed Beautyspot for a while, you know that I love nail polish as much as I love makeup. I like to change my nail colour everyday and hence I'm a bit lazy with nail design; lazy as in I never do it :( I was really inspired by the lace nail tut though. I think I want to give it a go. Maybe once I try lace nails I can move on to konading like I see some very talented nail bloggers do.
Have you seen All Laquered Up's Lace Nail post? Any thoughts? What was your fave blog post of last week?

1. Thank the person who nominated me for this award
2. Copy the award and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated me for this award
4. Tell 7 interesting things about myself
5. Nominate 7 Bloggers
6. Post links to the 7 blogs I nominate.
Thank you Stephanie of Lovely Disarry for nominating me :)
Now moving on the interesting things about me:
1. I've always had sleeping problems. I don't even remember the last time I slept though the night.
2. I used to be into martial arts and practiced karate regularely. I even have my brown belt.
3. I have very difficult and I would say non-average taste when it comes to movies. I think I'm a pretty harsh critic and have no patience for cliche stuff. For that reason, I mostly stay away from Hollywood and watch indie and foreign movies.
4. I have the biggest girl crush on Heidi Klum. If we were both lesbians and not married I would have married her, lol!
5. I lived in western Africa for four years in my early teens (age 10 to 14). I still feel a strong connection to Africa because of that. I think African soil is very grounding, maybe because the first humans lived there; Africa is motherland for all of us.
6. I collect Agatha Christie's books, especially her Poirot series. I've been a huge fan of her work since age 11. I find other murder mysteries lame, lol!
7. My entire family (well except for my parents and sisters) live in Iran. I have not seen them for over 10 years and miss them all dearly, especially my cousins. The fondest memories of my entire life involve spending my childhood summers in Northern Iran with my grandma and playing with the cousins. I feel so old talking about this :(
Since many of you girls have already done this, I tag everyone who wants to do it :) I know I cheated, but once again I'm low on sleep (been up since 5 am).
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I did a more colourful look than I usually do for work but it was Friday and I was also feeling experimental. It was also a very warm day today. I mean warm for winter, it was about -1 deg. I just left my coat at home and that in itself put me in an excellent mood.
What is everyone doing this weekend? The hubby and I will probably go skiing tomorrow leave Sunday for general weekend errands.
Here's the colourful Friday look. Hope you guys like :)

So I'm sure I have done an eye makeup similar to this before as I've used some of my favourite grays and purples, but I wanted to wear my new Shift to Pink Lip Gelee and this is the first I look that came to mind. I must say I love the combo of Lavender Whip and Shift to Pink. It will probably be great with a totally neutral look as well.
Hope you guys like the look :) oh, and yay for one day left to the weekend!

For this week's edition of Thursday Poll, I decided to talk about essential makeup items. When you're in a hurry, too tired or just can't be bothered with makeup, what is the one item you always reach for?
I personally cannot live without my mascara. I think my lashes are fairly long but I feel naked without my beloved Lancome Hypnose or CG Lashblast. I do go to the gym totally bare faced though. In the winter, I cannot leave the house without blush. I'm light medium toned but tan quite a lot in the summer (I go from NW25 in the winter to NC35 in the summer, haha!). So in the winter it's mascara + blush and in the summer because of my tan and warm weather glow just mascara. I know I cheated and selected two items for winter but I honestly feel like I look pale without the blush :/
What are your thoughts on this? What is the one item (or two max) you cannot be without?

Feb 4th: This giveaway is now closed. I will be picking a winner today and announce it on the blog tomorrow. Thank you all for entering and good luck.
As promised earlier, I present you with my second blog giveaway! Once again, I wanted to thank you guys for taking time to check out Beautyspot. I started this blog about a year ago, hoping to document my daily makeup looks. As some of you know, I'm a mechanical engineer and hence work in a very male dominated field. I love and enjoy my career but this blog has given me an avenue to maintain my girlie side and be away from the boys a few minutes each day, hehe! I'm happy that you have found the blog helpful and hopefully, inspirational as well.
Now, I get off my soap box. Here's a picture of the prize package:
Note: These products have all been purchased by me and I've been accumulating them for this exact purpose.
The package includes:
- NYX Barbie Pink Mega Shine Lipgloss
- NYX Ocean Blue pigment
- Ben Nye Tangerine Lumiere eyeshadow
- Kryolan Cairo Matte Eyeshadow Palette
- Sonia Kashuk Velvet Matte Lip Crayon
- Orly Nail Polish in Cut the Cake
- OPI Nail Polish in Birthday Babe
To enter, you need to be a follower of this blog and leave me a comment stating "How did you find Beautyspot?" to get one entry.
If you would like to increase your chances of winning, you can post a link to this contest on your blog. By doing so you will get an extra entry.
Please remember to leave your email address in the comments so I have a way of contacting you. Also, if you have linked to this giveaway in your blog, please include the link in the comments.
This giveaway is open to all readers (international included) subject to your country's custom laws. The winner will be chosen at random on February 4th and announced on February 5th (which happens to be my birthday, lol!)
Good luck everyone! And thank you all again!
