Hello my beauties! I haven't done one of these Tried and True installment in ages it seems. And that is not due to lack of items I've been loving for a long time. It's more due to my crazy work schedule and not having enough time to blog. I've gotten really overwhlmed yet again and we're still under staffed at work.

Anyway, for today's Tried and True, I present you MAC Impassioned l/s:
1-26/4/

Impassioned has been part of my makeup stash for about 2 years now and it still is one of the most unique shade in my large lipstick collection. Impassioned is a creamy and super pigmented warm fuchsia. It doesn't quite get to coral or red but it's a bold pink and definitely on the neon side. It applies effortlessly and lasts 5-6 hours on my lips. Impassioned is an attention grabing lipstick so don't go for it if you are a wallflower. As with all bold lipsticks, I recommend you wear Impassioned with a liner. My go to is MAC Trimmed to Pink l/l which was an LE. But it's just a simple medium pink shade so you sure to find dupes for it. Check out the swatch (on NW20-25 arm):

I have many many FOTD's wearing this shade but here's an example of how I wore this shade yesterday for work:

Hey lovelies! I'm loving the colour blocking trend for spring that I see in the fashion magazines since February. I especially like the mixture of fuchsia and brick red I saw in the March issue of InStyle. So I tried on the combo for a dinner out with friends last Sunday. I kept the shoes in the neutral family. I think two bold colours is enough, lol!

Fuchsia sleeveless top by Banana Republic, cotton stretch pencil skirt by American Apparel, nude stilettos by Nine West:

I also did something a bit different with my hair. I was watching hair tutorials and came up with this french braid that leads to a braided side bun. I quite liked the result though you can't tell in the pic, but trust me it looked neat in person. I'm usually very lazy with my hair but I always appreciate the effort when I do take the time to fix it up:

Hope you guys enjoyed this non-makeup related post. Let me know if you want to see more of these :)

Hey beauties! I haven't bought much makeup since February and have not been inspired by most collections out there (especially the MAC ones, getting super repetitive to me). But I am loving the info on Nars Summer 2011 Collection. If you've been reading BeautySpot for a while, you know of my love affair with Nars. I've been collection slowly for 3 years now and consider Nars my fave cosmetic brand. I mean check this out:

I got invited to the Bay Gala this coming Thursday and my Nars SA told me that they will have the summer collection out for sale. I will get my makeup done there too. I've done my makeup at Nars counter before and always loved the result. I have my wishlist already, this is what I'm thinking of purchasing:

-Dogon Duo -Metallic taupe with icy green sheen and charcoal black
- Wonder l/g - Shiny, sheer mandarin orange with pink andgold shimmer
- Bolero matte velvet pencil - Pink cantaloupe
- Mayflower l/s - Sheer raspberry with shimmer

I might also get Super Orgasm Illuminator. I loooove my Copocabana illuminatore right now but I think in the summer when I get tanner Super Orgasm will be better suited.

Have you guys bought (or will buy) anything from Nars summer? What is your favourite summer collection so far?

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend. I spent most of mine socializing with friends and also researching and purchasing my latest toy, the MacBook Pro 2011! My old Toshiba laptop finally died on me after 5 years so I went with a Mac this time around and so far so good. I love how user friendly it is. If you follow me on Twitter you already have heard of me raving it about it anyway :D Check it out:

I did a smokey golden eye with bold lips for two back-to-back parties on Saturday. Easter lunch at my folks with some other family and then dinner out with friends at L'Oree Du Bois over in Gatineau. It was a good day for eating I shall say.

Anyway, hope you like this glam look. And hope you all survive the week after long weekend.

Hello my lovelies! Hope you're all having a great and relaxing long weekend so far. We're spending ours mostly relaxing though it also will involve 3 dinner parties and one brunch with friends. I don't seem to ever just relax over the weekends and not socialize.

I'm this Easter Bunny look on Friday night for a dinner out with our neighbours tonight. I added some brighters pastels and really liked the results. Hope you guys like this too :)

Oh and I'm wearing a super casual OOTD. I tend to be dressed up 90% of them time and prob once every two weeks you'll see me with light washed denim. I can't help weraing heels with them though :/ Tank by Le Chateau, flared denim by Jessica Simpson, nude patent heels by Steve Madden. Oh, and girls with hips, check out JS denim line for sure. It takes a curvy girl to design for another sometimes. I love her jeans!

And here's a pic of the shoes coz I love them. I have a weakness for pink toned nude heels. I must have at least 5 pairs of this particular shade (different styles though):

Hey beauties! The long weekend is finally here and I'm psyched to spend some relaxing time at home. This time around I tried hard not to schedule a lot of social gatherings so I could spend more time doing nothing, lol! I will also try to catch up on reviews and stuff on the blog. I've been slacking off in that department.

Anyhuw, this is a look from Wedsnday that I just didn't get a chance to post. I mixed raspberry and blue shades to match my outfit *oh the horror*. Oh and I forgot how much I liked the bold barbie lips that is St Germain l/s <3 Hope you guys like it. Oh and happy Easter long weekend :)

Hi guys! I modified the standard smokey brown eyes to make it pop a bit more by adding some Copper Sparkle pigment and Reflects Copper Glitter in the middle of my lid. This is another look where I tried out shades that I'm not a huge fan of. Much like orange lips, I also don't really like copper shades; at least not on myself. But I think just a hint of copper works just fine.

What do you guys think?

Hi lovelies! Though it's cold here in Ottawa again, I've already started wearing my spring and summer nail polishes. Screw you winter, I am done!

My NOTD is China Glaze 108 Degrees which is part of their summer collection. 108 Degrees is a GORGEOUS glass flecked fuchsia shade. It literally glows under the sun light. I'm a huge fan of China Glaze glass finish polishes and this one is no different. The forumula was also great and I had no issues with streaks.

Here's a two coater swatch on my nails:

Do you guys own this naill polish? What are some of your favourite spring/summer nail colours?

April 19, 2011

Hey beauties! I've been seeing orange lipsticks everywhere lately. And this is loud orange not my beloved corals. I've always been terrified of the colour orange as long as I can remember. If I could be scared of a colour, orange would be it! I don't own a single piece of orange clothing as I never was able to pull it off.

But I decided to conquer my fear and actually buy an orange lipstick. So I used the 15% off Sephora sale and picked up Stila's Long Wear Lipcolor matte in Outrageous. This is a gorgeous orange that has a tiny bit of pink to it so it actually works on ppl with cooler undertones like yours truly. I also adore this formula! This lipstick feels soooo smooth on application and lasted 8+ on my lips without drying them out. I will definitely pick up more of these in the future.

Anyway, here's the look. Hope you guys like it :)

Hey lovelies! I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately with my blogging but finally on Saurday I did a look that I thought was worth posting. I went for a full on smokey look using cobalt shades and liked the result. I've been using BB Cobalt Ink gel liner as a base for my dark blue looks but I think I will eventually pick up an actual deep blue eyeshadow base. I'm thinking either one of the UD Shadow pencils or the MUFE Aqua cream pots.

Anywa, here's the look. Hope you guys like this and happy Monday :)

Hey guys! I wore this satin skirt today for the first time this year with no tights!! Yey! Spring is finally here. Though I still wore boots coz it's not quite that warm yet; at least not early in the morning when I go to work.

Skirt by Le Chateau, black tank from Winners, side laced boots from Nine West:

And I did a very simple look to go with the outfit. I went for a double liner using a teal shade on the lower lashline and went fuchsia and shimmery on the lips. Hope you like it.

Hello my lovelies! I did some spring cleaning this past weekend. The process included cleaning the basement and switching my winter/fall clothes to spring/summer clothes. I also re-organized my closet in the process.

While I was on that, I thought I should also clean up my nail polish stash. I got rid of a buncha shades that I wasn't using anymore and reorganized the rest based on seasons. Yes, I'm lame and actually follow the seasons when it comes to my nails! And I have this many polishes as I do change my nail polish every single night. I never go out without nail polish, I just feel naked without it.

This is all of my fall/winter shades, all over my bed! I love my vampy shades but summer is coming and these need to go in the bottom box:
fall

and here they are neatly organized in this box I picked up from Winners:
darks

And here are all my spring/summer shades. Getting real excited about wearing some of these again!
summer

I put them in the divider box on top of my fall/winter box. I switched them over every 6 months:
lights

Both the box and the divider box on top are placed on a stool next to my vanity so they are easily accessible. I love having all my pretties nearby <3

Thank Goodness this was done and now I can find the shades I need much faster. How do you guys organize your nail polish stash?

April 12, 2011

Spring is finally here! I know I've alreday done a few spring related posts but today was actually the first day here that I felt spring was in the air. As you know bright lips and neons are a big trend this spring (kinda like last spring). I personally have no problem going bright on my lips but I know a lot of the ladies out there prefer something more subtle. So I decided to make a post about my latest lip obsession - watermelon lips. Watermelon shades are a lot more wearable than the neon trend and they are flattering on every skintone and age group. I just feel so pretty when I wear this shade. I like that they are a cross between pink and red, but with the best of both world!

Here's are some of my fave watermelon lip products. All swatches are on unlined pigmented (pretty much red) lips, NW20-25 skin:

1. Nars Baroque glossy velvet pencil - this shade was introduced in spring and is been my go-to for the last month. Baroque is shinty and slightely shimmery raspberry red. It has tiny gold flecks in it that are soooo gorgeous in sunlight. The chubby pencil shape makes Baroque very easy to apply. I find that this product lasts a good 5 hours on me despite it been really a lip gloss more than a lipstick:

Baroque
Nars Baroque glossy velvet pencil

2. Chanel Emoi Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss - I've had this lipgloss for about 6 months and only lately I've become upset with it. the Extrait de gloss is a thicker lipgloss with a super creamy texture. This product feels amazing on the lips and is a beautiful shade of watermelon pink. I find that with this product though you need to use a lipliner to make it last 5-6 hours:

emoi
Chanel Emoi Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss

3. Marcelle Cleopatra Rouge Xpression - This lipstick is a bit brighter and more pink than red than the previous two. But gosh is it a gorgeous pink! Cleopatra is hands down what spring lips look like to me. The formula is creamy and comfortable wearing and it lasts a good 4 hours on me. If you live in Canada, definitely have a look at the Rouge Xpression line, what a bargain and what gorgeous colours!

Hello my lovelies! I've been having sooo many technology #fail moment these days. I have not been successful at removing the virus on my laptop so I'm still using hubby's PC for blogging. Also, my SD card decided to totally die on me this past weekend so I lost a buncha pictures...boooo! So some of the blog posts I had planned for this week are gone :(

But anyway, today was a nice and finally warm day and I was inspired to wear warmer shades on my eyes. My first instinct was to pair the eyes with dark lips but I lightened up inspired by spring. I adore shades on watermelon on my lips. I will do a blog post right after this and show you my favourite watermelon lip products.

Hey lovelies. Sorry for the lack of posts in the last few days. I had some computer issues (and still have a virus on my laptop) and am now using hubby's desktop till I fix mine. How was everyone's weekend? We hosted a game night on Friday and a dinner party on Saturday. Spent most of Sunday cleaning and runing errands so the weekend just flashed past me.

I did this look for the dinner party. I wanted something simple that had a bit of pop. But I even kept the "pop" simple in form of olive green liner on lower lashline. Hope you guys like this :)

Hey lovelies! Today's gonna be a sucky day coz I only got 4 hours of sleep and am on 3 back to back site visits. I have a feeling I won't even have time to have lunch, booo! Oh and my car breaks totally gave up on me yesterday so I had to drop my car at the mechanic's overnight. Getting a ride to my mechanics soon and crossing fingers my car's ready.

Anyway, I did this incredibly simple look yesterday with one of my fave MAC pigments, Blue Brown. I adore the duochrome look this pigments achieves. The only problem I have with Blue Brown is that it's very red based which can be too much on my already cooler (red toned) skin. So I usually wear it over a dark base. Hope you guys like this look:
