Summer has ended and I have yet to post a swatch of all my summer-y nail polishes. This one is Custom Kicks by China Glaze, released with Kicks Collection. It's a beautiful teal colour and though I have tones of teal and blue nail polishes, I can't find a dupe for this in my stash. My only gripe is again the formula, it's sorta goopy and thick and just annoying to apply. On top of that, it takes for eveeeeer to dry, even with Seche Vite top coat. I still love the colour though, beautiful on toes and tips. Especially since ChG released their horoscope collection and Custom Kicks was the colour for my sign, Aquarius. Us aquarian love the ocean colours :)

Here's a two coat swatch of Custom Kicks:

Surprise, I did a blue/green look, lol! I love these light and matte shades of blue and green lately. I think since they're lighter I'm hopefully properly made up for work :/ I spent the first half of the day on site anyway and am now back to the office. Oh, and I don't know why the close-up look unblended, I really think they are blended IRL "/

How was everyone's weekend? Are you guys feeling the start of fall where you love? It's def chilly here in Ottawa. I already miss summer :(

I forgot to post my nail polish of the day from yesterday. This is Color Club's Slow Jam which I think was part of their Sound of Musik collection last fall. It's a glowy wine colour that has a bit of brown in it. It's a unique colour in my stash and definitely very fall appropriate. The application was great and it looked opaque even after one coat. I put two coats just because, lol!

Here it is on my nails, I love this shade!

Well, we had a pretty cool and rainy day today with a high of about 12 deg. I got inspired to do a more fall type look with dark lips. I used to wear dark lipsticks all the time as a teenager, I was a big fan of the whole goth look. You probably are laughing but yeah, i had the dark lipstick, black nail polish, big buckled booties and wore rings on all my fingers...big chunky ones, lol! I still think of my teenage years everytime I do dark lips.

I'm also trying another shade of MUFE HD sample. I went back to sephora to get re-matched as the 125 ended up too red in natural light. This time the MUA looked at me up and down and told me that I'm absolutely a 118!! I was like, are you sure, I think 118 is too light! So he put both 118 and 123 on my jawline and told me maybe 123 is better now but 118 is my natural tone :/ Anyway, long story short, I took both samples with me.

Here's my dark fall look. Sorry there's no closeup, as I was saying it was dark and raining all day long. Oh, and I wore this look to go eat sushi, haha!

I'm so sad that fall is upon us. This summer was extremely short and it rained most of the time so I'm even more sad. You can just feel fall in the air, even when you're standing under the sun. To make it worse, I've noticed that my super awesome tan is slowly fading away :(

What's everyone doing this weekend? We're going to our neighbour's on Sunday for a late summer BBQ and probably to my parents tonight. Besides that we have a whole lot of cleaning and house work planned, super pumped (not)!

Here's the look for today, I was having a brain freeze so I reached for my teals and greens.

I finally did some hauling at Lush. There is a Lush store in St-Laurent Mall here in Ottawa that I used to pass by every freakin day when I was in high school. I had wanted to try their stuff ever since then and believe it or not it's been put off until now! I was meeting a friend downtown yesterday and this time I passed by the Lush store downtown and decided it was time to loose my Lush virginity, lol!

I was actually pretty overwhelmed by all the yummy stuff in there but ended up getting only what I had come for. Keeping in mind I've already done extensive research as to what I wanted. The friend I went with is a Lush junkie and she had tones of recommendation. So I got H'Suan Wen Hu Hair Treatment as well as Lemony Flutter Cuticle Cream. I also spent some time going through the soap bars and so they ended up giving me samples of Sultana of Soap, Honey I've Washed the Kids, Chox Away, Figs and Leaves soap.

Here's picture of everything together:

For all Lush users out there, what are some of your favourite products?

I love Platinum pigment, it's so finely milled and so damn pigmented. The only thing is that it always manages to get on my fingers, don't know how! I did a look with Platinum pigment today and contrasting bronze colour on the lower lashline. I liked the effect.

On a non-related topic, it was 8 deg this morning when I left for work. Honestly we hardly had a summer and it's already fall :( well, at least I got to wear my brand new military style jacket, I love this style.

I did a soft look with OCC Ironic today. I've been digging the soft looks for everyday wear lately. And this was one of those mornings where I could not get out of the bed so the application was a little bit rushed.

How's everyone's week going so far? Mine is extremely slow so far. Honestly, I prefer the crazy busy weeks, coz then the weekend gets here really quick. To make it worse I'm physically not feeling well these days which makes the day drag even more.

Anyway, onto the look:

I'm still trying to swatch my entire nail polish stash. But I keep buying more polishes still and now I'm so freakin behind! Anyway, this is China Glaze's Flying Dragon which I believe was from their Ink collection. It's a neon polish and therefore for me it needs a shiny topcoat to complete the look. Flying Dragon is a gorgeous bright purple that just glows in the sunlight. Unfortunately I always have application issues with China Glaze (with the exception of Romantiques) and their neons are the worst. I still love the colours they make so I keep going back, lol!

I really like the loose powder called Glisten I got from OCC. It's a nice peachy colour, more pigmented than Expensive Pink and I just adore it. I decided to use it today with Plumage to give it some attitude. I also used Chartreuse and Heritage Rouge pigments to make this kinda Makeup Art Cosmetics inpired, lol!

Let me know how I did.

This is not a colour I would normally wear but I was feeling soft and feminine today (lol!), so I reached out for OPI's I Pink I Love You from the 2009 Sheer's Collection. I like this nailpolish coz eventhough it's sheer, it's a lovely pale pink for my skintone and it also has some flashes of blue/green to it. You can see the full effect in daylight.

This is three coats as it's a sheer polish.

Gosh3

I was intrigued by Gosh's new line of lipgloss called Light 'n Shine so I finally picked one up. Gosh is a drugstore brand that can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada but I find they have some very nice products in their line, including their Velvet Touch Liners and now these Light 'n Shine stuff. The Light 'n Shine lipgloss swatch like MAC's Dazzleglass except these are much less thick. They are quite sheer on the lips but add amazing dimensions when worn on top of a lipstick exactly like the dazzleglasses. I got the tan shade which looks great on top of my nude lipsticks. The lipgloss has a built-in mirror on the side and a light which lights up when you open it. I thought this was quite a neat idea.

These glosses cost $14 CAD so the price is right, not quite as cheap as other drugstore brands but better than Dazzleglasses. The only con is that these don't last on your lips as long as MAC's dazzelglasses. Though Dazzleglasses wear off too with the exception of glitters which can be annoying to some.

Give these a try next time you're at Shoppers Drug Mart. I think you'll be pleasntly surprised!

Here's a swatch on my hand on on the lips.

I had totally forgotten about my swatching project yet again! But here we are with the next installment, MAC's teal eyeshadows and swatches. Teal is my personal favourite colour to wear on my eyes, especially when combined with greens and blues. I adore the mermaid look, makes me think of summer. Since summer is so short in our beloved Canada, you get to appreciate these colours more.

One note, Plumage and Deep Blue Green appear more black in these swatches. IRL, when combined with colours of the same family, you can see the teal in them much more clearly. I recommend a base like MAC's Delft or Greenstroke paintpot under these babies.

Here we go, once again, all on NW30 skin with no base:

I broke out my brand new Photorealism quad today to do a subtle green look. I also used Crest the Wave, again subtly. I decided against dark lips coz it's still summer and I wanna enjoy the nude lips some more. But I think this look will be perfect with a lipstick like Kirch Mattene, lol!

I got a chance to stop at a MAC counter yesterday evening to check out the new MAC collection, Makeup Art Cosmetics. I went in to either buy nothing or only get a quad. I tend to read many reviews and look at as many swatches as I can so my spending is more controlled, lol. Anyway, in brief, this is a pretty decent size collection that offers something for everyone. The only problem is, if you've been an avid MAC collector for sometime (like me), there are not too many stand outs. My favourite products were the eyeshadow quads and Crest the Wave eyeshadow.

Here's my two cents on this collection:

Lipsticks
I didn't even bother swatching the Frost lipsticks. I am not a big fan of Frosts and plus one of them (I believe High Strong) is Perm. The Lustre lipsticks were pretty and very fall appropriate, I was actually tempted by them and swatched them on my hands. I was disappointed that with the exception of Fully Body, they apply very sheerly. Instant skip for me. I already have 2 vampy shades from last years Cult of Cherry and I will wait for Style Black to get my vampy fix for this year.

Lipglasses
The only lipgloss that didn't look like something we've seen 100 times in the past was On Display. It's a gorgeous burgundy shade and applies so pigmented and rich. I was going to pick it up when I realized it reminds me a lot of Jampacked, also released with Cult of Cherry. I put the lipglass down for now. I will go back this weekend with my Jampacked to compare them side by side.

Technakhols
These are four beautiful shades of pigmented technakohls. They are all beautiful and bold colour and apply very smooth. I skipped them all coz I make my own colour liners when I need to. I use a gel mixing medium I bought from MAC Pro and any of my pigments and they last on me all day. If you're too lazy for that (lol!) or don't have access to MAC Pro for the mixing medium, def pick up some of these. I especially loved Colour Matters which is a chartreuse green.

Eyeshadows
This collection offers 6 eyeshadow singles out of which only two are new. I would say skip Violet Trance, it looks gorgeous in the pan but it's so freakin chalky. Invest in some MUFE instead. Same with Maira's Mood. I think MUFE makes better pinks and purples. Maybe get MUFE #26 instead of Maira's Mood and MUFE #92 instead of Violet Trance. Haunting is a beautiful aqua blue which also doesn't apply well. It also reminds me of a cross between Aquadisiac and Mutiny. Off the Page is a gorgeous shimmery orange. I didn't pick it up coz I don't wear orange that much and I already have some MAC sample orange pigments as well as MUFE #11 and #5.
My favourite eyeshadow was Crest the Wave, previousely released with Naughty Nautical quad. It's a gorgeous plae shimmery yellow. I have a thing for shimmering pastel shades so I picked it up.

Blushes
The Perfect Cheek is a very pale chalky pink. Not my type of colour. It showed up on my inner arm which is probably an NW25, but I doubt it's show on my super tan summer face which is possibly an NW35 now. Notable is very pigmented but again not my type of colour. It's a redish brown. I'm thinking if you're NC40 or higher you might enjoy this one.

Pigments and Glitters
I skipped the glitters right off the bat since they're all pro products. Out of the pigments I already have Heritage Rouge (but if you don't GET IT!!), the most gorgeous burnt burgundy colour. Cocomotion is beautiful and I might pick it up later. I skipped Push the Edge coz I have enough purples in my arsenal. Brash and Bold is a beautiful shimmering fuchsia, but too close to Bright Fuchsia for me to be interested in.

Eyeshadow Quads
This was my favourite part of the launch. I have never bought any pre-made MAC quads and was determined to loose my quad virginity to these beautiful things, lol! I loved all three quads, I personally picked up Photo Realism coz it's full of Velux Pearls and Frosts tw of my favourite finishes. Also, Photo realism is more of a subdude green quad which makes it perfect for fall. Notority (neural quad) and In the Gallery (purple quad) are also beautiful. It just comes down to personal preference. I thought all three quads had colours that were very complimentary of each other and based on the pictures I've seen in InStyle, all three are very "fall 2009".

I don't have any swatches unfortunatly coz it's an overcast day. But if you want, please let me know and I swatch what I bought. Here's a picture of my haul:

Is it me or Bright Future looks a lot like Goldmine on anybody else? I really only noticed it today. They don't swatch similarly but when I look at my MU pics from today, it looks like I'm wearing Goldmine.

It's a much nicer day today here in Ottawa. I slept in so I was fussing around in the morning thinking about what makeup to wear. I decided to use my OCC pigment in Atmospheric. No surprises there, this minty green pigment is one of my favourites ever. In case you're wondering, yes I did take the full face pics in our office bathroom! It was too sunny in my car, lol!
