May 1, 2010
Sorry this edition of monthly faves is a bit late guys. You all know about the nasty week I was having. But it's the weekend now and I can forget about it for a bit.
1. Orly Luxe
I've been craving warm colours especially corals and golds this month so you will see the theme through this month's faves. Orly's Luxe from their Foil FX collection is hands down the best gold nail polish I ever lair my eyes on. It looks like molten gold but it's pretty neutral, not too warm or too cool. This is one my fave polishes ever. I have a swatch of Luxe here.
2. Sugarpill Goldilux
Speaking of gorgeous gold shades, I also don't think I've ever seen a better gold eyeshadow/pigment than Goldilux. This shade looks hot dry or foiled and it just glistens under the sun. Two thumbs up! Check out swatch of Goldilux here.
3. Chanel Rouge Coco in Teheran
I know you are all tired of me talking about this lipstick, but I honestly cannot get enough. This is a shimmery (but not frosty) shade of light pinky coral. It's beautiful on my skintone and is the perfect spring shade. Check out my swatch and review here.
4. Lise Watier Eye Glitter in Saphir
Lise Watier makes the best glitter liners hands down! They are very high in pigmentation and shimmer. I have about 7-8 of them and Saphir has got to be my most used one (at least for April). It's a gorgeous dark navy glitter liner. You can line it alone or over a navy liner for more intensity. Click here to check out a look I did with Saphir here.
5. Nars Mud Mask
I got a very generous sample of this from my Nars MA as I spend so much money at their counter (lol). This mud mask is the bomb! I use it on my face once a week and my complexion is so much clearer. One of my girl friends just came back from a 2 month trip in Asia and commented on how clear my skin looked right away. You just gotta apply it all over face and neck, let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water, voila! My MA gave me three big samples so I'm set for a looooong time but I will get a full jar when I run out!
Have you guys tried any of these products? What are your fave products for the month of April?
This review is a little bit late I know. By now there must be tones of other reviews about this collection out there but thought I still share my thoughts about it. It might help someone out there. I saw this collection yesterday and came out with only Saint Germain l/s, the only item in my opinion worth owning.
Tri Colour Lipglasses
These are extremely sheer. I didn't even bother swatching them as I don't even like the idea of the three colours mixing. Pass if you like your lipglosee to be pigmented.
Lipsticks
Touch: kinda of a brown-y lipstick. It's available permanently but oddly enough my counter didn't have it in stock. So that one is missing from the swatches.
Bubbles: This is a sheer beige lipstick with a glase formula. I don't know how I would use it. On its own it washes me out. I can imagine you could layer it over other lip products but I didn't see it worth the money at the end.
Saint Germain: this is a beautiful barbie type pink. I'm a sucker for pink lipsticks especially the ones that stand out like this one. I tried it on to make sure it works on my complexion and since it looked fab, I got it. For reference I'm about an NW25.
Sweet Thing: This is Pomposity in luster form. If you have Pomposity, you can safely skip, which I did.
Lollipop Lovin: I have this from last year's release with Heatherette. It's a beautiful sheer coral/peach colour with green duochromes. Only it seems like this time around there isn't much green in it. I think I prefer the Heatherette version.
Eyeshadows
The only one I was interested and hence swatched was Aquavert. It's a beautiful minty green but as I have both Warm Chill and Lusterleaf I skipped it. Club and Stars 'n Rockets which are also part of this collection are perm and Sugarshot to me looked like a boring goldish highlight colour. I much prefer Solar White and Blanc Type for highlight.
Shadesticks
These are creamy and swatch beautifully. I ended up not getting any of them thought I might go back for Red Velvet. I still prefer the paint pots as base or I go to my trustee Mehron palette for bright bases. Overall these are nice if you don't have a lot of bases like me. The only one I thought didn't apply as smooth as the others was Cakeshop.
MSF
Refined: This on didn't show up on me at all! I swatched it on my hand and my hands are kinda golden (as opposed to my pink face) so easy skip for me.
Perfect Topping: is a nice peachy nude colour and is beautiful as a highlight if you don't already have three highlighting products in a similar colour family like me. I was extremely tempted by this though as these MSF are a lot smoother than some of the older ones. But I managed to talk myself out of it. lol!
Here are some swatches:
from left to right: Lollipop Lovin, Sweet Thing, Bubbles and Saint Germain
from left to right: Penny, Butternutty, Cakeshop, Lemon Chiffon and Red Velvet

I don't know what to think about this collection yet. I really like pastels and obviousely I'm also tempted by all the cupcakes in the promo picture. I'm not sure about teh actual products though. I know I will be passing the MSF's unless they are senstional. I have so many highlighting and bronzing products. Unless the lavender sheen in Perfect Topping is obvious those are a pass for me. I am not a big fan of shadesticks either so it's doubtful I get one of those though I need to test them in pwerson.
Where I will probably spend some money are the eyeshadows. I have Warm Chill and though I hear Aquavert is sort of similar, I will pick it up. Aquavert has much better colour payoff in the swatches I've seen. I'm also interested in Dear Cupcake. Well, I really like its name and I don't have any coral eyeshadows. So I will check that one out as well.
The only two lipsticks that interest me are Lollipop Lovin and St-Germain. I have Lollipop Lovin from the Heatherette release and it's one of my faves. I think I wear it at least once a week but I still haven't even gone through half of it. I doubt I'll pick another one up. St-Germain sounds intriguing. It seems like it's a very cool toned l/s and usually, the cool tones are the ones that work for me. Though this one is so light that I need to see it in person. But I know it's the first item I will check out from this collection when it's released.
It seems like this will be an inexpensive one for me, yay! Might as well as there are way too many cool collecations coming out later in the year.
