I picked up a bottle of Nars Sheer Glow foundation a couple of weeks ago on shopping spree to my local Nars counter. I'd heard raves about this foundation for months now and since I'm always on the lookout for the next best foundation, I gave in.
Nars Sheer Glow has 4 colour categories: Light, Medium, Medium-Dark and Dark. Every colour category has various sub-categories. I was matched to Light 5 (Fiji) which is the perfect match for me. I like that all the shades are names of places. Very nice idea!
This is how Nars describes this product: A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, skin is hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves skin brightness, radiance and texture. For normal to dry skin types.
My take on it: Since starting to wear this foundation a couple of weeks ago, I cannot go back to the rest of my foundations! Nars Sheer Glow applies to my face like a lotion, that's how soft it is. I use my a87 to blend it in and I only need the smallest amount. This is a light to medium coverage foundation yet it covers all my old acne scars and red spots. It also feels so light on the skin that you won't even know you have anything on. I set it with my beloved Ben Nye Translucent Powder and it lasts on me until I take it off (over 8 hours). Honestly, I don't even want to take this foundation off; that's how much I like the feel of it on my skin. I don't think this is a glowy finish product though (don't know why it's called Sheer Glow), it's semi-matte on my combination skin.
I even like the bottle design, I think it looks very chick and I like that it's a heavier bottle. I know a lot of ppl complain about lack of pump but that doesn't bother me either, I just shake it before I use and I get all the product I need.
The only con I can think of is the price. I believe I paid about $60CAD after taxes for this baby. However, I like it so much that I know for sure I will repurchase. I just need to finish the rest of my foundations and then I'll just stick to Nars Sheer Glow. Seems like I finally found my HG foundation (move over MUFE HD!).
Have you guys tried Nars Sheer Glow? Any Thoughts? What is your HG foundation?

I've been wanting to try this for ages, but the price tag has held me back a bit, especially because I don't even wear liquid foundation that often as it is. I might just give in and splurge on it sometime soon though :)

Sounds lovely but wuth my combo skin I think I will be looking shiny quick.. I'm looking forward to finish my Studio Sculp foundation which I love but I kind of look oily after a while.. I'm looking forward to try MUFE Matte Velvet.. I'm still looking for my HG foundation that can keep me matte for a decent amount of hours =D

This foundation is the next one I am going to try. Right now I am trying to use up a Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich which I don't love, and a MAC Studio Sculpt which I like slightly better. I need to be sure of my shade because this one is so pricey, but I have a good feeling about it ;)

Is it possible to have two HG foundations? I adore Sheer Glow (I can wear Fiji or Sante Fe) for the same reasons as you.I also love Diorskin Nude. I alternate between the two :-)

I think I've had product cravings over this. I've wanted to try it for so long and it gets so many good reviews, but yeah, the price over here is terrible as well.

So very Fabulous - I def think it's worth the splurge, at least it was for me :)
FIntia - well, sheer glow stays put on me for over 8hours. I always set my foundation with translucent powder though. I have combo skin as well.
Scarletholly - I like studio sculpt too but it's not my HG. I hope you find your shade in sheer glow, they have a wide array of shades from super pale to super dark so you should be ok. What's your MAC shade?
Michelle - now I'm also tempted by the Dior foundation! I love my Nars though and Fiji is a great match, Santa Fe was slightly too golden, maybe that one is my summer match?
Gold Dusk - I know, that's why I waited till now to get it. But I'm so happy I caved in, I love this foundation!

I have two HG's ...MAC's new Mineralize and MUFE HD...I want to try this one but I am just so over having so many foundations and experimenting with my face...But I hear so many great reviews...I am glad you love it...I haven't heard many that didn't. I will eventually try it out though...just not until I empty some of the ones I have in my Makeup Arsenal of No End in Sight!
Great Review!!

I have been looking into ordering the Nars Sheer Glow, but would have to order it from overseas as we don't have a counter here.
I have to say, I am having a hard time with the shades. Too many to choose from. I am thinking either Fiji or Punjab. Do you know which MAC equivalent you are at the moment?

Tish - np :) I know I always have a buncha foundation bottles laying about. But I really had t try this one and I'm glad I did. Now I just need to use up my MUFE HD and MAC studio sculpt and just stick with this :)
Maya - I know it's hard to get matched when you only have swatches to look at. I'm about NW25 in MAC right now. I think Fiji will be a good match for NC/NW25 so it should be good for you too. I think Punjab might be a little dark (it was dark on me). Karla did some great swatches a while back, here's the link:

Hope that helped <3

I'm saving to buy this foundation, I want to try it so bad because I've read how many people love how it feels and the texture of it. Thanks for the review.

I work for Nars, and I think the foundation that you are using is Sheer Matte as it is in a frosted bottle, which would also explain the finish that you are getting. The Sheer Glow is in a more see through bottle and will provide a more satin finish. I urge those who have combination skin to trial both and see which sits better on the skin. Great review, thanks.
